Located within the walls of the ancient city, the “medina”, the structure of a riad is centered on an enclosed space inside, preventing both the heat and the noise from the streets.

This inward orientation and the absence of large exterior windows further highlight the central garden, structured by four different squares of plants and trees, often orange or lemon trees, surrounding the central fountain, for shade in summer, fruits in autumn and to perfume the air in spring.

The patio of our Luxury riad is by definition a living space where it is good to get together with family or friends. A few armchairs, tables or benches are arranged under the shelter of an awning or in an alcove (bhou) to enjoy the view of the garden while drinking a glass of mint tea.

The walls of the passageways are generally covered with an authentic lime or tadelakt coating, or delicately decorated with cut wood for a more refined style. On walls covered in plaster or wood, Moroccan artisans often use geometric shapes or quotes from the Quran in Islamic calligraphy.
