Since its renovation, the Palais Faraj has been conceived as a permanent art gallery, with the communal areas decorated with numerous works of art, passionately sourced by Evelyne Faceh. In the corridors leading to all the suites, in the lounges or around the Restaurant L’Amandier, let yourself be carried away by a unique artistic stroll.
They come from various countries on the African continent, from sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb, as well as from Asia, and combine ancient and contemporary works, as well as a variety of techniques.
From one space to the next, the Palais Faraj’s artistic and heritage collection offers you a wealth of encounters with a selection of paintings, wood sculptures, bronzes and old photographs of the city of Fez, as well as precious pieces of decorative art such as jewelry, pottery and antique carpets…
Evelyne Faceh, Palais Faraj gallery designer
This collection was assembled by Evelyne Faceh, wife of Driss Faceh, both of whom initiated the magnificent restoration of the former Palais Bensouda and its transformation into a luxury riad, offering 31 exceptional suites, renamed Palais Faraj.
« From our private collection, I wanted to share paintings made by contemporary and Moorish style masters, collections of old photos of the Medina of Fez from the 1900s, century-old Fassie pottery, carved bronzes and brass, ethnic jewelry, ancient Berber, Kabyle and Tuareg carpets, African sculptures, Dogon doors; antiques and modern consoles from contemporary designers … Thus, in addition to the architectural beauty of the place, the corridors and various spaces of the Palace offer to eyes and heart a real palette of art and antique culture ».
