When Gordon Ramsay first discovered Moroccan cuisine in Fez, now acclaimed as “best in the world”.

In 2019, the famous British Chef was at Palais Faraj in Fez, starting point for his discovery of Moroccan gastronomy. Today, still in love with the country’s products and specialties, it was with sincere enthusiasm that he unveiled the results of the competition launched by Pubity on Instagram, which consecrated Moroccan cuisine as “best in the world”.

The competition, organized by the Pubity platform, pitted 36 countries renowned for their gastronomy against each other in a multi-round tournament. Among the competitors were Italy, India, Japan, Spain, Mexico, Turkey, France and many others.

Moroccan cuisine won over Nigeria in the first round, followed by South Africa, Italy and Japan, before facing Mexico in the final.

After a vote by 2.5 million Internet users, Moroccan cuisine was awarded the trophy for “World’s Best Cuisine”.

The results were announced on Tuesday, July 16, by British Chef and star of the TV show “Cauchemar en cuisine”, Gordon Ramsay, on his own Instagram account. Moroccan gastronomy emerged victorious with 60% of the votes, ahead of Mexican cuisine, which garnered 40%.

Pride and joy of Palais Faraj

In 2019, Gordon Ramsay was our guest at the Palais Faraj, before setting out to discover Moroccan gastronomy. His first stop was Fez, where he shares his amazement at the fresh local produce and craftsmanship of the medina’s artisans, guided by Moroccan Top Chef Najat Kaanache.
